Frequently Asked Questions

Will the courses offered be of any real benefit to someone who has already been in the ministry?

Yes. Actually, it’s those who have been in ministry who tend to benefit the most. Many of our courses cover materials that “We wish we would have been taught at Bible College”. The insight received will enable anyone who has been in ministry, no matter how long, to be far more effective.

I will have to work to provide support for my family. Is it possible to attend WHBTC and still have time to work, study, and still have a family life?

Yes. Our school hours are from 9:30 am to 1:00pm Monday-Thursday. Afternoon,Evenings, Fridays, weekends and half-term breaks - in most cases - are left open for students to use at their discretion and to fulfil other credit requirements.

Will WHBTC help me find employment or living accommodation?

Yes, but only moderately. Students will be responsible for their own employment and living arrangements. However, it is our desire to help whenever possible. If you are relocating to Manchester, you may be able to take advantage of a database made up of Christians who would like a student to live in their home. WHBTC has a small number of rooms available for students; please contact the office for further details.

Are there any age requirements for attending WHBTC?

Eighteen is the minimum age for acceptance as a student. There is no maximum age.

What if I cannot complete two years consecutively?

If you are unable to attend WHBTC two years consecutively, you may return at a later time and complete the second-year program. Diplomas are awarded only after completion of two years of study.

Is it possible to skip the first year if I have already had other training or ministerial experience?

No. Regardless of your experience or training, everyone is required to complete the first-year program before enrolling in the second-year program. Our training is so specialised, and the second year builds on the first year, that even having attended a very good training program previously, there will be too many aspects of the program that a student would miss out and this would hinder their second year.

Am I automatically licensed and/or ordained upon graduation from WHBTC?

No. Graduates are not automatically licensed and/or ordained after graduation, but graduates are able to receive ministry credentials if upon application they are approved. Normally there is a period of proving oneself in ministry before credentials are given, however each graduate’s application for credentials is handled on a case-by-case basis. When a graduate is ordained there is a laying on of hands service they should attend. This normally happens during special meetings like Destiny Week.

Can I take part-time classes rather than attend fulltime?

Every alternate year in September we have a student intake for our part-time evening course. We also offer various modules on different subjects throughout the year - see whbtc.co.uk for up-to-date information.

Is WHBTC accredited?

No. At this time WHBTC is not accredited, but there may be institutions who accept classes as transfer credits into their programs should you wish to go on to get a higher education degree.

Does WHBTC provide childcare?

Not directly, but SonShine Nursery is a fulltime day-care facility for children 0 -5 years. Further information can be obtained by phoning 0161 736 9087.

How long does it take to hear if I’ve been accepted?

Applications will be processed within two weeks of receiving a fully completed application form, all pertinent recommendation forms, and your application fees clearing our accounts.

How hard is it academically?

We strive to minister to the heart of the student, not educate the head at the expense of the heart. Therefore, though there are some courses that will be challenging to some students, the goal is not to get students to remember dates and facts, but to train them to be highly skilled ministers, who know how to depend and rely on the leading and empowering of the Holy Spirit.
